This year’s outreach concert, titled “Symphony in the Park” took place at the newly crowned UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Blessed with good weather, the orchestra premiered Bosch’s new speakers in Singapore at the outdoor stage with a selection of popular music from musicals and movies, drawing people from all walks of life.
The casual setting encouraged people to have a day out with their friends and family (pets included!) The repertoire was a crowd pleaser with familiar tunes from some of our favourite musicals, movies and TV shows including Looney Tunes Cartoons, Disney’s Fantasia, and the 1999 film Eyes Wide Shut, which stars Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise. Children and adults alike were entertained with cotton candy and snacks prior to the performance.
The NUS Symphony Orchestra would like to thank our sponsor Bosch, the NUS Centre for the Arts, our conductors Maestro Lim Soon Lee and Mr Foo Say Ming, our wonderful audience, and family members and friends of the orchestra for making this concert a success.
